FULL EMPLOYER PROFILE

PROFILE

How do you sum up a complex and exciting business like Grant Thornton? Simply put, we're part of a global organisation delivering audit, tax and advisory services to dynamic organisations in over 100 countries. In the UK alone, we deliver solutions to 40,000 clients, across a wide range of sectors. Getting right to the core of client needs and meeting them with agility and insight is at the heart of our business. In today's competitive market, this blend of expertise and personal attention sets us apart.

Over 400 school leavers, graduates, interns and placement students join Grant Thornton in over 20 of our 27 UK offices each year. They enjoy variety and responsibility from the start on exciting client assignments from multinationals to fast-growth companies such as start-ups. The learning curve is steep. Trainees can be leading their own team or portfolio by their second year. And with the firm's global reach there are plenty of opportunities for international exposure to clients and secondments.

The structured training, varied on-the-ground client experience and supportive working environment gives trainees the chance to develop and grow as trusted advisers with a deep understanding of business, as well as achieving a respected professional qualification and a competitive salary.

So who are we looking for? People with a passion for business, who combine technical thinking with their own instinct to give the kind of advice that makes a real difference to the organisations they work with. Grant Thornton's business advisers listen critically, dig deeper and have the confidence to challenge assumptions right from day one. They know it’s about more than just the numbers, it’s about enjoying tough challenges, seeking out opportunities and adding real value to clients by unlocking their potential for growth.

SCHOOL LEAVER PROGRAMME

If you’re eager to make your way straight from you’re A-Levels, or equivalent qualification, into the world of work, our Accelerate programme could be for you.

In the first few years you’ll study towards either the AAT or ACCA in audit or ATT or ACCA in tax (depending the office that you join). With commitment and hard work, you could be fully qualified within five years, a year ahead of people who choose to go to university. You’ll also spend intensive time at our dedicated training facility, Bradenham Manor in Buckinghamshire, to develop your technical knowledge and business skills, consolidate your learning and meet other trainees in a relaxed atmosphere.

Our people get all the security and amazing opportunities you’d find in a large firm, coupled with a supportive, friendly office environment and great prospects. It’s what fast-track careers at the heart of business are made of.

You’ll be expected to bring valuable insights to our firm and our clients. That means having the confidence to test assumptions right from day one and having the ability to see the fine details as well as the big picture. You’ll listen critically, have the ability to drill down to the relevant issues, regardless of sector, and be agile and effective in your response. You’ll enjoy tough challenges, seek out opportunities and look to add real value in businesses. You could even be leading your own team or client portfolio in your third year!

We recruit School Leavers into the following office locations as part of our Accelerate Programme:

• Belfast • Birmingham • Bristol • Cambridge • Edinburgh • Gatwick • Glasgow • Ipswich • Kettering • Leeds • Leicester • Liverpool • London • Manchester • Milton Keynes • Newcastle • Northampton • Norwich • Oxford • Reading • Sheffield • Southampton

Please visit our vacancy search page to check which offices still have opportunities available, by selecting 'school leaver' as the entry route along with the office location you are interested in joining.

There have been great opportunities to work with different levels of staff; all of whom help you on the job.

I have learnt a lot from the audit courses and have been able to apply this knowledge to my work, which has prepared me for the future and built my confidence.

There is a lot of emphasis on a good company culture.
