BDO LLP

FULL EMPLOYER PROFILE

PROFILE

Not all big accountancy firms are the same. We pride ourselves on being big enough to matter, yet small enough to value our clients as people rather than commercial opportunities. At BDO our difference is that exceptional client service is simply non-negotiable

At BDO we deal with a genuinely diverse range of clients, whose needs vary as much as their specialisms and situations. You’ll face stimulating challenges that expose you to many different sectors. You could also spend time abroad: BDO is a global accountancy network with more than 1,000 offices in over 100 countries – and 23 locations across the UK and Guernsey.

SCHOOL LEAVER PROGRAMME

We employ exceptional people – and help them to get on with the job, without needless bureaucracy. Our systems work to support our people, not the other way around.

What has this got to do with the school leavers we choose? Everything. Of course, we have a list of academic and competency-related entry requirements. But there’s something else. We’re looking for people who don’t fit the conventional accountancy mould.

Talented people with the imagination and initiative to make a real difference – to be the difference that matters so much to our clients. We don’t want clones. Our people are as diverse as our clients: individuals who can think for themselves, appreciate and respect people whoever they are, build relationships and take personal responsibility.

BDO’s training is as exceptional – and individual – as the people it recruits. Most study for the ACA, but there are also routes to other professional qualifications. Training is tailored to their needs and centred on first-hand experience. That’s why they get such excellent results.

We offer you opportunities in a range of exciting areas from tax to forensic services, with the chance to take real responsibility on projects alongside partners and colleagues. Refreshingly, our partners are known for their hands-on involvement and mutual support is an essential part of the culture.

Working Environment

I would say the training has been immersive and appropriate. A lot of it is on-the-job but there are always people around who are willing to help.

I have more opportunity to be confident and independent in the workplace than I would if I had another part-time job.

They welcomed me as soon as I arrived in the office and the whole team gets on well.
